NEWS UPDATE:

Attention!!!!: For Families with kids and potential students!!!!
October 14, 2008
UTA ups ante in free tuition race, raising income limit to $65,000 Does your family earn $65,000 or less a year? If so, the University of Texas at Arlington will send your kid to college for free, officials just announced.
UTA administrators have been mulling over their free tuition plan for awhile. And we've been asking what they were going to do since late last month, when Texas A&M University announced that students with a family income of $60,000 or less could be an Aggie for free, assuming they met other application guidelines.
UTA's offer begins in January 2009, as in this spring. First, students must qualify for a basic Pell Grant. But if they do, the university will waive regular tuition, which is $8,000 a year for an undergraduate taking 12 credit hours. The income threshold has been $40,000 this year.
For more about this deal, which UTA is calling the Maverick Promise, call the university's financial aid office at 817-272-3561 or got to www.uta.edu/fao
